This earthquake rebuild was adjacent to a waterway which created more complex groundworks once engineers took a closer look. The original house was a beautiful character home with rimu single glazed windows and rimu trims throughout. Whilst the owners wanted to retain some character features, they also wanted to upgrade the windows to double glazing and make better use of the sun in the new house layout. Our designer, whilst maintaining the same footprint, managed to alter the layout to create a large sunny open plan living area and locate the bathroom in a more appropriate area, whilst still allowing three generous sized bedrooms.
