Huntsbury Hill

SIPs Energy Efficient Home

This SIPs home was built on a tight site on the hill. Timber piles were used with insulation, as opposed to an insulated concrete slab. Access was tricky but panels were able to be craned into place on site. This two-storey house had the level 1 floor installed and then a mid-floor constructed before the second storey panels could be installed. A further day saw the roof panels installed.

A simple square shape is thermally efficient. uPVC windows, a Brink MHRV and SIPs insulated envelope has achieved a remarkably high performing home. The owners often comment how they struggle for the need to put the heat pump on and have only done this a handful of days last year when its been extremely cold.
